I thought I would be more nervous.
I had arrived 15 minutes early to meet with Coach on Tuesday last week. We had a 30 minute session to start my Olympic Lifting Training again after over a year off.
I decided I should snap a picture to mark the occasion.
After I snapped it (and posted it), I waited a minute…. expecting to need to clear my head before I went in.
But oddly, I felt no worry… it just felt like time to go.
Coach was all smiles when I walked in, and we had the place to ourselves.
I let him know where I was with strength training… and then we got into the warm up.
It honestly felt like I hadn’t left. The biggest difference I noticed was the empty space I had in my mind.
There was a calm (in between the sets) that wasn’t there before.
The awesome thing about 2017, was that I learned to stop...and care for myself first.
It was a chance to start over, and build all the elements of a mentally and physically healthy routine...in a way that felt good to me.
I told coach my main goal now, is to make Olympic Lifting something I practice (regularly) for as long as possible. I told him I enjoy it, and I think it’s fun...that I’d like to continue into my 40’s and 50’s and beyond.
It puts a smile on my face to think about being able to do it ten years from now.
So, that’s the goal for me.
I want to be settled into a rhythm that puts a smile on my face when I think about it.
I’ve changed my Job Title on LinkedIn. I have also finally chosen an elevator pitch.
I am a Mental & Physical Strength Coach. I help "stressed out" people find (and follow) a balanced diet and exercise program...that they enjoy.
Moving forward in 2018, I will be pursuing speaking opportunities for Stress Management Workshops in the Kansas City Area.
In all of my ongoing work, I will be encouraging you to balance your work and rest.
I will be encouraging you to not just lift weights, but to meditate and stretch daily in a way that feels good to you.
