Why resistance train to help lose body fat?
  • Even at rest, muscle burns a significant amount of calories. So as you increase your muscle mass through strength training, your metabolism increases.  
  • The resistance training session itself can help you create a calorie deficit, because resistance training burns calories while you are working.  The higher the intensity of the training the more calories burned.
  • Muscles use energy as they recover from exercise.  As you resistance train, you overload your muscle tissue, and your muscles need time to recover. During recovery time your body is rebuilding itself, and it needs more calories than usual.
